Data Base for State Incentives for Renewable Energy
- TX, Austin Energy Clients Energy Efficiency And Solar Loans – Must be an Austin Energy client. Loans are unsecured and have specific conditions attached for energy efficiency on homes and solar on homes.
- Data Base For State Incentives For Renewable Energy (DSIRE) – A comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives that promote renewable energy.
- New York State Energy, Multiple Funding Opportunities EE/RE – New funding opportunities and press releases constantly change. Includes grants and loans. Some ongoing and others with deadlines.
- CA PUC, Utilities To Recoop Cost On Transmission Lines for Renewable Energy – New PUC rules assure that utilities can recoop the cost of putting up Transmission Lines for Renewable energy generation.
- CA 4 Point Plan To Assure Renewable Energy Generation – CA PUC release 4 point plan to assure renewable energy generation in future. This includes considering renewable for all Transmission projects, and making sure that no laws offering renewable disincentive plans are put in place. May allow new funding.

- Healthful Homes/Healthful Schools Grants – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, proposals and RFPs for Healthful Homes/Healthful Schools Grants, for work that supports community based efforts to reduce the exposure of children with asthma to environmental asthma triggers in their homes and/or schools.
- Renewables In Florida – Florida Power & Light Company requests proposals for new, viable sources of renewable firm capacity and/or energy to benefit its customers.
- Evaluation of New Yorks RPS – The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority(NYSERDA) requests bids to provide technical and analytical support for documenting the results and impacts of NY™s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Program through 2008, and to provide analyses of relevant emerging policy issues and program needs.

- Conservation & Sustainability Fellowships –The Alcoa Foundation requests applications for its Conservation & Sustainability Fellowship Program. This program funds 6 to 12 month research projects on conservation and sustainability issues. Past Fellows have completed research in areas including, but not limited to: Climate change, energy issues, conservation of fragile ecosystems, biodiversity, sustainable livelihoods and economic growth, and integrating sustainability into public policy and governance.

- Weatherization Program Provides Funding For Low Income Housing And EE – Weatherization Program is funded by federal and generally goes to each state, but there are exceptions for Tribes (see CERT events, conference report). Also see CERT EE Guide/Beyond Codes/Weatherization for more inforamation.
- Energy Efficient Mortgage Program Through HUD – EEMs recognize that reduced utility expenses can permit a homeowner to pay a higher mortgage to cover the cost of the energy improvements on top of the approved mortgage. FHA EEMs provide mortgage insurance for a person to purchase or refinance a principal residence and incorporate the cost of energy-efficient improvements into the mortgage. - Consumer Financial Opportunities Page-Multiple Funding – This page provides information on federal funding for consumers. Certain criteria must be met to be eligible for certain funds.
- RESNET Website, Various Funding Opportunities For Consumers, Homeowners – This website focuses on energy efficiency and funding for homeowners. Focuses on getting individual homes up to national standards and maintained so they can be rated as an energy efficient home which qualifies homeowner for tax and other breaks.
- Funding Sources On DOE's EERE.ENERGY.GOV – Funding includes investor/angel capitol, grants, loans, and venture capitol. Many different opportunities.

- FEMA's Tribal Program And Funding Tribal Program – FEMA's Tribal Program and Grant information for disaster and hazardous events/planning and preparations.
- Green Fund Capacity Grants – The Housing Assistance Council has Green Fund Capacity Grants of up to $15,000 to promote the effective use of green building technologies for the development of affordable rural housing. Selected grant recipients must use the awarded funds to support green building/healthy homes techniques and practices in their housing development activities.

- Federal Loan Guarantee Program, Up To $2 billion – Loan guarantee program and press release for clean energy projects.
- $800 Mill In Renewable Energy Bonds From IRS – The new bond allocations range from $23,000 to $31 million and are set aside for 434 solar energy facilities, 112 wind power installations, 36 landfill gas facilities, 14 hydropower plants, 13 biomass power plants, and one refined coal production facility.

- NSF SBIR/STTR, Research & Development – The National Science Foundation requests proposals for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The SBIR/STTR Programs stimulate technological innovation in the private sector by strengthening the role of small business concerns in meeting Federal R&D needs, increasing the commercial application of federally supported research results, and fostering and encouraging participation by socially and economically disadvantaged and women-owned small businesses.
- Renewable Energy Certificates - Michigan – Detroit Edison requests proposals to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates associated with MWhs of energy produced from qualifying renewable electric generating facilities located within the state of Michigan that are eligible for Green-e(r) certification.
- Ethanol Policy And R&D, Proposals On A Continuous Basis – The Renewable Fuels Foundation (RFF) requests proposals for research, and for the strategic policy needs of the U.S. ethanol industry and related markets. RFF is the education and research arm of the Renewable Fuels Association, a national trade association representing the ethanol industry. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: 1) R&D: Feedstocks for cellulosic ethanol; storage and transportation; environmental impacts of cellulosic ethanol. 2) Policy: Economic impact studies; food versus fuel debate; transportation & distribution; analysis of oil production. - NY-Clean Energy Business Growth-Development – The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) requests proposals for the Clean Energy Business Growth & Development Program. Through this program, NYSERDA seeks to help clean energy companies succeed, grow, and develop new markets for clean technologies through new, improved, or expanded manufacturing, assembly, installation, distribution, sales and/or service of clean energy equipment and systems in NY State.

- Help Find Funding from Foundation Center – Membership charge of $9.95 per month. CERT NOT a member, so not known on what foundations and grants listed or help available through this site.
- Surdna Foundation – Funding for multiple projects including environmentally conscious and efficient energy projects.
- Z Smith Reynolds Foundation – Funds multiple types of projects including community minded-projects and environment.
- Home Depot Foundation – Donations to nonprofit groups in US and Canada focusing on community minded efforts to build/retrofit homes for energy efficiency.
- Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation – Foundation funds education programs and community oriented nonprofit organizations.
- Lending at Wells Fargo – Important to see if qualify for a grant or coop instead of a loan. Terms are negotiable, but stick today.
- Seventh Generation Fund – "Sustainable Communities SGF provides seed money, organizational support and technical training to Native grassroots community-based projects striving for holistic community health and renewal. We support traditional agricultural methods, renewable forms of energy and sustainable strategies for development that preserve or restore traditional lifeways for future generations."
- Housing Grant programs for Alaska Housing, at Alaska Housing Finance Corporation – Grants available to help ensure Alaska residents have good housing. Other forms of funding help also available.
- MicroFinancing for Women at Women's World Banking – Bank offers microfinancing to build businesses owned by low-income women.
- Center for Economic and Environmental Partnership Inc – CEEP is a 501(c)(3) not for profit New York corporation that funds and sponsors programs promoting development of an effective and competitive environmental industry in New York State and advance development of sound environmental business policies and programs in New York State and elsewhere.
- Skoll Foundation – Social Entrepreneurship for work which has the potential for large-scale influence on critical challenges of our time: Environmental sustainability, health, tolerance and human rights, institutional responsibility, social and economic equality, peace and security.
- Community Grants from Union Pacific – Grants through an annual application process through which nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations located in Union Pacific communities may apply.
- Yves-Rocher Foundation – Focuses on earth preservation. One of their focuses is the "Women of the Earth" Competition in which any woman, age 18 or older, working in environment preservation can apply for the competition.
- SMUD – Sacramento Municipal Utility District provides information about current contracting opportunities.
- Gates Foundation – Accepts some Letters of Intent. Full proposals may be sent for RFP only. There is a section in Gates Foundation for 'open proposals,' otherwise see specific funding sections.
- William and Flora Hewlett Foundation – Read the Hewlett approach to philanthropy and strategy. The Foundation concentrates its resources on activities in education, the environment, global development, performing arts, philanthropy, population, and makes grants to support disadvantaged communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- 2 year fellowship for PHD in energy – In an effort to foster education and innovation in the area of societal production and utilization of energy, the Link Foundation invites applications for 2-year fellowships of $25,000/year for students working toward a Ph.D. degree.
- John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation – "The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation is a private, independent grantmaking institution dedicated to helping groups and individuals foster lasting improvement in the human condition. Through the support it provides, the Foundation fosters the development of knowledge, nurtures individual creativity, strengthens institutions, helps improve public policy, and provides information to the public, primarily through support for public interest media."
- McKnight Foundation – They support efforts to strengthen communities, families, and individuals, particularly those in need. They also help fund the Energy Foundation. Regional focus is on Minnesota and on the Mississippi River (depending on where applicable.)
- Mertz Gilmore Foundation – Currently their entire energy fund budget goes to the Energy Foundation. Human Rights: "The decision to take this approach is rooted in the Foundation's recognition of two related factors: 1) U.S. government's historical antipathy toward applying international human rights standards within the U.S.; and 2) general publics lack of knowledge about human rights."
- David and Lucile Packard Foundation – Their Core Grantmaking Programs are: Conservation and Science; Population; Children, Families, and Communities; and others. They also help fund the Energy Foundation.
- Pew Charitable Trusts – Grants focus on partnering nonprofits with the Pew Charitable Trust. They also fund the Energy Foundation.
- W. K. Kellogg Foundation – "Grants are made in the four areas of: Health, Food Systems and Rural Development, Youth and Education, and Philanthropy and Volunteerism."
- At&t Foundation – Funding includes providing vital resources for immediate and long term needs to help community organizations support the community.
- Rockefeller Foundation – Funding categories in America include employment, housing, and education.
